Anxiety Therapy in Galena, Ohio

You look like you’re doing fine, but inside, your brain won’t turn off.

Maybe you overthink everything. You worry about what other people think, replay conversations after they happen, or feel like you’re constantly trying to stay one step ahead of everything that could go wrong. Maybe you’re doing well in school or work, showing up for everyone around you, and still feeling completely overwhelmed behind the scenes.

Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic. Sometimes it looks like perfectionism, procrastination, irritability, trouble sleeping, constant reassurance-seeking, difficulty making decisions, or feeling like you’re never doing enough.

If anxiety is making everyday life harder than it needs to be, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Anxiety therapy can help you understand what’s happening, quiet the constant mental noise, and build the confidence to handle life without anxiety calling all the shots.

Reasons You Could Benefit From Anxiety Therapy in Galena, Ohio

You might be considering therapy because you're tired of feeling like your brain is always “on.” You know you're capable, but anxiety keeps getting in the way of actually feeling that way.

Maybe you find yourself constantly worrying about school, work, relationships, or the future. You may replay conversations, second-guess decisions, put tremendous pressure on yourself to get things right, or avoid situations because you're afraid of what could happen. Sometimes anxiety shows up as procrastination—not because you don't care, but because you're afraid you won't be able to do something well enough.

You might also notice that you're exhausted from trying to anticipate every possible problem. You want reassurance that everything will be okay, but even when you get it, your brain quickly finds another thing to worry about.

And maybe the hardest part is that from the outside, no one would know how anxious you actually feel.

Therapy for Anxiety in Galena, Ohio Can Help

Anxiety often asks, “What if?”

What if I mess up?
What if they don't like me?
What if I make the wrong decision?
What if something goes wrong?
What if I'm not good enough?

When your brain is constantly searching for certainty, it can feel like you need to solve every possible problem before you can relax or move forward. But the truth is, we can't predict or control everything that will happen.

In therapy, we'll work on shifting from “What if?” thinking to “Even if” thinking.

Instead of needing to know that everything will go perfectly, we can build confidence in your ability to handle what happens.

What if I make a mistake?
Even if I make a mistake, I can learn from it.

What if they don't like me?
Even if someone doesn't like me, I can handle that.

What if I make the wrong choice?
Even if I make a choice that doesn't work out, I can make another choice.

What if something goes wrong?
Even if something goes wrong, I can figure out what to do next.

This isn't about replacing every anxious thought with a positive one or pretending that difficult things won't happen. It's about building resilience and trust in yourself.

You may not always be able to control what happens next. But you can learn to trust that you are capable of handling what comes next.

What You Can Gain From Anxiety Therapy

Imagine spending less time trying to predict every possible outcome and more time actually experiencing your life.

Therapy can help you understand your anxiety and recognize the patterns that keep you stuck. You'll learn practical ways to manage overwhelming emotions, challenge the pressure you put on yourself, and respond to anxious thoughts without automatically believing them.

Over time, the goal is to help you:

  • Feel more confident in your ability to handle uncertainty

  • Spend less time overthinking and seeking reassurance

  • Become more comfortable making mistakes and being imperfect

  • Manage overwhelm without shutting down or avoiding things

  • Make decisions based on what matters to you rather than what anxiety tells you to fear

Most importantly, therapy can help you move from “I need to know everything will be okay” toward “I trust myself to handle it, even if it's not.”

My Approach to Anxiety Therapy

I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can finally take a breath.

When working with kids, teens, and young adults, I want therapy to be collaborative, practical, and tailored to the person sitting in front of me. There isn't one right way to experience anxiety—and there isn't one right way to work through it.

We'll start by understanding what anxiety looks like for you. From there, we'll work on recognizing unhelpful thought patterns, challenging the pressure you're putting on yourself, building emotional regulation skills, and learning how to respond to anxiety instead of automatically letting it make the decisions.

My approach draws from CBT and ACT, with additional training in DBT skills. But you don't need to know what any of those acronyms mean. What matters is that we'll use approaches that help you understand your anxiety, practice new skills, and make meaningful changes in your everyday life.

For younger clients, therapy might include games, creative activities, movement, or other hands-on approaches. For teens and young adults, sessions may look more like conversation, skill-building, problem-solving, and exploring the thoughts and expectations that are keeping you stuck.

And if you're a parent looking for anxiety therapy for your child or teen, you don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can talk through what you're noticing and determine together what kind of support would be most helpful.

You deserve more than simply getting through the day while your brain tells you everything that could go wrong. You deserve to feel confident, capable, and connected to the life you're building.
