What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic method used to treat negative memories, thoughts, and self-defeating behaviors.

Safe and Sound Protocol

Safe and Sound Protocol, or SSP, is a five-hour auditory intervention based on Polyvagal Theory. It uses specially filtered music to target the systems involved in listening, autonomic regulation, and social engagement. Early in the protocol, the music may emphasize a narrower frequency band around 800 to 1500 hertz, which is close to the resonant range of the middle ear and overlaps with important features of human speech. The goal is to train the auditory system to detect prosodic voice cues more efficiently and experience them as signals of safety rather than threat. As the protocol continues, the frequency band gradually widens, increasing acoustic complexity and helping the brain keep tracking the human voice in a louder, more variable world. In that sense, SSP acts like graded exercise for the auditory system, with the broader aim of supporting regulation, connection, and social engagement.”

Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy works off the assumption that humans have needs as young children and if those needs are not met, schemas can develop. A schema is a persistent, self-defeating pattern of thoughts and behaviors that influence a persons’ perspective of the world, relationships, and themselves.
